TNT Serie adds to Wiedemann’s 4 Blocks

Turner-owned German pay TV network TNT Serie has ordered a second season of its latest original drama, 4 Blocks, before the first season premieres next month.

TNT Serie’s 4 Blocks is set in the Arab community of Berlin

Set within an Arab clan living in Berlin’s Neukölln district, the story focuses on Ali ‘Toni’ Hamady who aspires to leave his ‘four blocks’ and his criminal empire behind. But when his brother-in-law is arrested, he returns to assume leadership of the clan.

It was developed by Wiedemann & Berg Television, TNT Serie and the writing trio of Hanno Hackfort, Bob Konrad and Richard Kropf, as well as director Marvin Kren.

It is exec produced by Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann, Eva Stadler and Karsten Rühle, with Turner’s Anke Greifeneder and Hannes Heyelmann.

The second season of the gangster series will again be produced by Wiedemann & Berg Television and, like season one, is expected to consist of six one-hour episodes.

Filming is due to begin later this year for broadcast in 2018.

4 Blocks had its international premiere at Berlinale in February and was also screened at Series Mania in Paris this month. Season one will begin on TNT Serie on May 8.

The series is the third in-house production for TNT Serie, following comedy drama Add A Friend and mystery thriller Weinberg.
