TNT greenlights Alienist sequel

The main cast of The Alienist will return in The Angel of Darkness

Turner-owned TNT in the US has ordered a follow-up to its limited drama series adapted from Caleb Carr’s novel The Alienist.

TNT’s adaptation of Carr’s The Angel of Darkness will be a coproduction between US studio Paramount Television and Turner’s Studio T.

TNT’s version of The Alienist aired between January and March this year.

Eric Roth and Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin, Rosalie Swedlin and Cary Joji Fukunaga serve as executive producers.

The Alienist’s main cast, Daniel Brühl (Rush), Luke Evans (The Girl on the Train) and Dakota Fanning (American Pastoral), will return for The Angel of Darkness in a new storyline.

The story is set in New York City during the late 19th Century and follows a doctor treating mental pathologies who holds the key to hunting down a ritualistic murderer.

Since launching in the US, The Alienist has been picked up by Canal+ in France for its crime network Polar+.
