TLC grows West Coast team

US cablenet TLC has reshuffled its development and production teams on the West Coast by hiring former executives from Style Network and Los Angeles-based prodco Fly On The Wall Entertainment.

Jack Tarantino has been named VP of production in the region, while Elvia Van Es Oliva joins as VP of development.

Both newly created positions are based in the company’s Los Angeles offices and the duo will report to Sandy Varo Jarrell, senior VP of production and development on the West Coast.

Tarantino and Van Es Oliva will each be responsible for original programming concepts and expanding current series brands, while also leading teams across all business and creative functions.

Nancy Daniels, general manager at TLC, said the duo would work in tandem with the network’s East Coast team.

Taratino was previously with the now defunct Style Network, where he was VP of original programming and oversaw new and recurring series. Before that he produced shows including The Real Housewives of Orange County for Bravo and Mob Wives for VH1.

Van Es Oliva was most recently senior VP of development for Fly On The Wall, where she was responsible for creating, developing, pitching and selling documentary series, formats and social experiments.

She has also worked as VP of programming and development at High Noon Entertainment and been a showrunner, director, writer and producer for specials and series for CBS, ABC, NBC and MTV.

The appointments come six months after Varo Jarrell joined female-skewing TLC from ABC Family to oversee programming strategy on new and existing projects in LA.
