TLC feels NBC’s Heartbeat

Heartbeat is based on the real-life story of a female cardiothoracic surgeon

Discovery Networks International channel TLC has picked up the rights to US medical drama Heartbeat in the UK and Ireland.

The female-skewing lifestyle channel, which launched in the UK in 2013, will premiere the show in April following the deal with NBCUniversal International Distribution.

The 10×60’ series is based on the real-life story of one of the few female cardiothoracic surgeons in the US, Dr Kathy Magliato.

It is currently being produced by Universal Television for US broadcast network NBC.
