TLC adds Lohan, Marsh docs

TLC in the UK has revealed a slate of new programming and acquisitions to mark its first year on air, including a documentary series about a troubled Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan.

Lindsay Lohan (8×60′), which premiered on OWN Network in the US on March 9, follows the movie star on her journey through recovery, looking at her struggles with drugs and alcohol.

FremantleMedia International picked up worldwide distribution rights to the series, excluding North America, earlier this year.

Elsewhere, TLC has commissioned two one-off documentary specials featuring glamour model turned presenter Jodie Marsh from UK indie prodco Knickerbockerglory, covering mail order brides and plastic surgery reversal operations.

Meanwhile, the second season of ABC Studios’ series Devious Maids, from Marc Cherry, the creator of ABC Studios’ Desperate Housewives, will air on TLC next month.

“TLC has got off to a great start. As the one-stop shop for real-life entertainment, it offers something very different in pay TV and is thriving with a compelling schedule that features strong characters with fascinating lives that viewers just can’t watch anywhere else,” said Susanna Dinnage, exec VP and MD, Discovery Networks UK and Ireland.
