Tiny Pop floats onto Freeview

Sony Pictures Television (SPT)-owned UK kids channel Tiny Pop is set to join its older-skewing sibling network Pop on UK DTT platform Freeview next year.

The preschool channel, which airs toons such as My Little Pony and Care Bears, is part of CSC Media Group and will launch fully on Freeview in the UK on January 7. It launched on Freesat in the UK in October.

Pop, the general entertainment channel for 4-9 year old girls and boys, launched on Freeview in March, three months before SPT acquired UK channels group CSC.

The deal added 16 channels to SPT’s portfolio, spanning kids, music, movies and entertainment genres. SPT received final approval for the acquisition in August and promoted Kate Marsh to oversee the company.

Tiny Pop has been available in UK satellite homes for more than 10 years and is an active buyer of international kids content, picking up Ella the Elephant from FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment at the beginning of this year.
