TikTok star gets Netflix comedy special

Netflix has ordered a comedy special fronted by Sarah Cooper, the comedian who has gone viral with her TikTok videos lip-syncing Donald Trump’s speeches.

Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine will feature Cooper and a variety of guests in vignettes and sketches discussing issues of politics, race, gender, class and more.

It is set to premiere on the streamer globally this autumn. Many of Cooper’s TikTok videos, such as the one below, have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

The special will be directed by Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne, who will exec produce with Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids) and Danielle Renfrew Behrens through the trio’s production company Animal Pictures. Cooper and Paula Pell (Saturday Night Live) will also exec produce, as will Chris Burns of AGI Entertainment and Dan Powell of Irony Point.

Prior to her online success, Cooper was a writer and correspondent on Stephen Colbert’s CBS All Access pilot Old News.

Cooper has also written bestselling books 100 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings and How to be Successful Without Hurting Men’s Feelings. She is next set to pen a modern, comedic take on a Dale Carnegie classic How to Win Friends and Influence People for Audible Originals.
