Dublin-based subscription TV service The QYou has added three commercial execs to its team.

Amory Schwartz, Bob Reid and Natasha Roberton all join the firm, which launched last year as a streamed linear channel with shortform content.

The ad-free service was launched by industry veterans Scott Ehrlich (Fox News, Real Networks), Curt Marvis (MTV, Lionsgate), Les Garland (MTV, VH1) and G Scott Patterson (Lionsgate, NeuLion), and is backed by Beijing-based pay TV operator StarTimes.

Schwartz joins as executive VP of global sales and commercial development, after previously co-founding and becoming CEO of the North American Sports Network, which was acquired by ESPN in 2007.

More recently, Schwartz established The Outdoor Channel HD for the EMEA market with AMC Chello Zone.

Meanwhile, former BitTorrent licensing exec Reid takes up the position of VP of sales and business development for the Americas and Asia Pacific, while Roberton becomes VP of marketing.

“The internet has given rise to a new era of imaginative, snack-sized content that is steadily becoming a core part of people’s entertainment diet,” said Ehrlich.

“Now operators are waking up to the fact that having this content available on their services can satisfy growing consumer tastes for varied videos, delivered in a way that’s consistent with a premium TV experience.”

The appointments closely follow The QYou’s raising of C$10.4m (US$7.86m) in equity funding.
