The Cry heard in Spain

A broadcaster in Spain has picked up BBC1 psychological thriller The Cry from UK-based distributor DRG.

Mediaset España will air the 4×60′ drama, which focuses on a British couple whose baby vanishes while they are on a trip to Australia.

Produced by Synchronicity Films for BBC1, The Cry is a coproduction between the UK pubcaster and its Australian counterpart the ABC, with Sundance Now securing exclusive rights to show it in the US.

Mediaset has acquired the series after rival Antenna 3 drew positive reviews and ratings for another psychological UK drama, Doctor Foster, which it aired recently.

Other networks to have acquired The Cry, which is based on Helen FitzGerald’s bestselling book of the same name, include M6 in France, C More in Sweden, Canal+ in Poland and NPO in the Netherlands.
