Televisa joins TRX

Mexican broadcast giant Televisa has become the latest firm to sign up to online TV rights portal The RightsXchange (TRX) to boost its distribution efforts.

The Spanish-language programme specialist will use TRX to exploit a catalogue of more than 2,000 hours of content around the world.

Set up by former zodiac execs David and Matthew Frank in 2015, TRX says it now has more than 1,000 registered buyers and 70,000-plus hours of content from more than 110 distributors in its system.

Televisa joins the ranks of other big-name distributors now using TRX including TCB Media Rights, BBC Studios, Lionsgate, StudioCanal, Sky Vision, All3Media and Off the Fence.

TRX CEO Matthew Frank said: “Having the support of a powerhouse like Televisa is a significant endorsement for TRX. The management team see the value in what we have created in enabling more deals with less hassle. We are incredibly proud to be welcoming them on board the platform. I couldn’t ask for a better partner in Latin America”

TRX has secured in excess of US$20m of funding from investors including Sky Ventures, Channel 4 and UK VC Edge Investments. The company operates on a subscription model, providing distributors access to a suite of services based on their requirements.
