Teletoon takes Blue Ant, Mondo shorts

MIPJUNIOR: Corus Entertainment-owned Teletoon will air a collection of animated comedy shorts from Canada’s Blue Ant Media and US digital entertainment firm Mondo Media.

The Canadian broadcaster will launch Bite On Mondo (26×30’) on its primetime programming block Teletoon at Night in 2016.

The series comes from the Bite On Mondo programme, a US$3m animated comedy shorts scheme launched by Blue Ant, Mondo and YouTube last November to discover and produce new animated content.

Since going live, Bite On Mondo has received more than 500 pitch submissions. The programme uses YouTube to test popularity of animated content and measure feedback for scaling into packaged shorts and longer formats.

To date, the scheme has developed 25 original animated pilots including World Doctors and Don’t Feed the Humans.

Broadcaster and distributor Blue Ant will be representing Bite On Mondo content at Mipcom this week for international distribution. Bite On Mondo continues to look for high quality submissions with the next deadline for submissions on November 15. The scheme is part-funded by the Canadian Media Fund.
