Telemundo preps Facebook show

US Hispanic network Telemundo has unveiled a series of digital projects including a live show on Facebook and a shortform series with Buzzfeed.

The NBCUniversal-owned network is working with multi-platform media group Mashable on the live show, which is based on its tech strand El Pulso, launched in 2014.

Telemundo is partnering with Buzzfeed on Much Ado About Nada, a shortform series that combines telenovela production and storytelling with the youth news network’s publishing and distribution expertise.

The English-language series will offer episodes on a weekly basis across multiple platforms and screens within both Buzzfeed and Telemundo’s networks, focusing on reaching Hispanic millennials.

Elsewhere, Telemundo’s Fluency Productions is preparing two multi-platform feature films set to debut in 2017. Fat Camp will follow fitness enthusiast Hutch Daley, while details of an untitled second movie, coproduced with US-based Wise Entertainment, are yet to be revealed.

Peter Blacker, exec VP of digital media and emerging businesses for Telemundo, said it had “teamed up with the biggest names in digital media to introduce original opportunities for our clients to connect with the demographic that is driving the US consumer market, spending more than anybody else across major categories.”
