Telemundo picks up Cromosoma's Triplets

US-based Spanish-language network Telemundo has picked up the broadcast rights to the Spanish animation series The Triplets from Barcelona-based Cromosoma.

The deal is the first US pick-up for the Spanish animation studio.

The Triplets (Las Tres Mellizas) is based on the relationship between three girls Anna, Teresa and Helena and the Bored Witch, whose greatest delight is to play tricks on the little girls.

In each episode the Triplets do something wrong, and as a punishment, the Bored Witch sends them into a fairy tale. All the adventures are based on classic fairy tales.

The US network will start airing the first series (26×30′) from October 2001, with the option to increase the number of episodes to 65.

A co-production between Cromosoma and Televisió de Catalunya, The Triplets has now been licensed in 157 territories, and has been dubbed into 31 languages.
