Telemundo partners on movie site

Telemundo Media has partnered with US movie ticket retailer Fandango to create online movie-related content aimed at Hispanic-Americans.

The two companies yesterday revealed, a Spanish-language site that combines short entertainment news items with ticket sales and showtimes. The content will also be seen on the Telemundo network and its youthful sibling Mun2. The joint effort was first announced last spring.

“With Fandango, we have the perfect partner in innovation and consumer responsiveness that acknowledges the explosion of Hispanic mobile, internet and social media users,” said Peter Blacker, executive VP of digital and emerging media at NBCUniversal-owned Telemundo.

Fandango Cine’s original content includes the weekly box office recap Fandango Cine: En Taquillas, the weekend preview Fandango Cine: En Cartelera and Cine Buzz, which presents news about Latinos in the movie industry. Fandango, which is also owned by NBCU, sells tickets to more than 20,000 movie screens around the US, covering 70% of the country.
