Tele 5 signs with Sony

Polish commercial network Tele 5 has signed a multi-year TV and movie deal with Sony Pictures Television (SPT), while its burgeoning sister channels Novela TV and Water Planet are also stocking up on programming.

Tele 5 is Polcast Television’s male-skewing flagship channel, airing series, films and documentaries.

The agreement with SPT will see the network pick up series including The Big C, and movies such as Arlington Road, The Last Action Hero, Seven Years in Tibet, The Cable Guy and Hook.

Earlier this month, Polcast launched two new channels to air alongside Tele 5 and female-skewing Polonia 1.

Water Planet is a science channel airing documentaries themed around water. A new deal with Discovery Communications means it will air programmes including HMS Ark Royal, Shark Attack Survival Guide, Into The Shark Bite and Killer Whales.

Meanwhile, Novela TV, which airs telenovelas 24 hours a day, has picked up new titles from Telemundo Internacional. They include La Reina Del Sur (aka The Queen of the South), Perro Amor (Cruel Love) and La Casa de al Lado (Behind Closed Doors).

Piotr Borys, programming director for all four channels, will be attending Natpe Budapest later this month where he will be looking to pick up new content for each network.
