TechTV takes US rights for Thunderbirds

MIP NEWS – Following news that international channel TechTV is broadening its output to include shows like Techno Games, the channel has bought the US rights for the UK's classic puppet animation Thunderbirds from Carlton International.

TechTV has bought 32 episodes of the Gerry Anderson production, which will premier this summer. The fantasy adventure series set in 2065 was originally shot on 35mm in the 1960s and has been digitally remastered.

Senior vice president of programming and production for TechTV, Greg Drebin, said: {While Thunderbirds is not a purely technology-driven show, the futuristic setting, the sci-fi theme and nostalgic value all make it a perfect complement to our programming mix.{

He added: {We are currently working on a presentation format that will allow us to include additional information on-screen to make each episode even more compelling.{
