TCB reveals original trio

UK-based distributor TCB Media Rights has ordered its first original series under recently appointed commissioning editor Hannah Demidowicz.

Demidowicz, who arrived from BBC Studios in May, has commissioned three shows: World’s Most Incredible Hotels (13×60’), World’s Most Extraordinary Families (6×60’) and Wild Tube (12×30’). The programmes are being fully funded by TCB, which will retain the worldwide rights to the series and will shop them internationally.

World’s Most Incredible Hotels is being coproduced by UK indies Blackball Media and Woodcut Media. The show will take viewers inside the inner workings of some of the world’s most exclusive establishments, including Solent Forts, Oberoi India, The Reverie Saigon and the Ice Hotel.

World’s Most Extraordinary Families comes from Title Role Productions and offers a celebration of the modern family, including transgender fathers, five-parent households and other interesting dynamics.

Wild Tube is being produced by Spark TV, which recently entered into a development deal with TCB. The show combines blue-chip documentary techniques with user-generated content to offer a look at animals’ lives.

The round of commissions reflects TCB Media Rights’ growing involvement in content development. The distributor will present the series to buyers at Mipcom in October.
