Tattoo show makes mark on Pulped

New youth-skewing streamer Pulped has added tattoo competition series Ink Rookies to its programming slate.

The 6×15’ shortform series will see five upcoming tattoo artists compete for an apprenticeship with celebrity tattoo artist Lantz Huston at his Los Angeles-based ShoeBox Tattoo studio.

The contestants will partake in daily challenges to test their drawing and design skills, technical abilities, and knowledge of the craft, with the final task of tattooing one of Huston’s clients. The winning artist will secure an apprenticeship with Huston.

The series will go live on the streaming site tomorrow. Ink Rookies is produced by Peninsula Films, with Julian Nott serving as executive producer and Matt Beirne acting as supervising producer and director on the series.

Pulped launched in September, targeted at Gen Z and millennial viewers. The platform includes seven categories: dating, comedy, fiction, reality, lifestyle, NSFW, and gameshows, with new episodes released on a weekly basis.

Much of Pulped’s initial content was tested on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube in April this year and ranges in length from just one to 15 minutes. Longform series and specials will also feature on the site, which will also make its content available to viewers online and through numerous social media outlets.
