Tanno takes Nice Drama spot

Nordic-based producer NENT Studios has appointed a CEO at Nice Drama, its prodco that was behind scripted series Midnight Sun.

Alexander Tanno

Alexander Tanno takes up the role having been head of content strategy and international coproductions at streamer Viaplay, owned by NENT Studios’ parent Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group).

He will begin his new post on October 1 and takes over from Mikael Wallen, who will continue working with content development in a new role at NENT Studios, reporting to NENT Studios CEO Morten Mogensen.

Tanno said his ambition was to build on the expertise at the company while expanding its scale and scope into new genres and collaborations.

Mogensen, who was named chairman at UK-based distributor last week, added: “Alexander has been part of creating some of Viaplay’s best Nordic drama productions, and his knowledge and passion for unique storytelling makes him the perfect fit to lead Nice Drama.”

Nice Drama’s output, aside from Midnight Sun (Midnattssol), includes movie The 100 year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared, which has become one of Sweden’s most watched films. The prodco is also behind dramas such as Thicker than Water (Tjockare än Vatten), Superswede and Hassel.
