Tambor exits Amazon’s Transparent

The furture of Amazon’s award-winning Transparent remains in doubt

Actor Jeffrey Tambor will not return to flagship Amazon drama Transparent following two allegations of sexual harassment made against him.

Amazon has been investigating the allegations against Tambor, who plays the lead in the award-winning show about a father transitioning to become a woman.

The retail giant has now confirmed Tambor will not be returning to the show, with the decision following the actor’s own admission that his future on the series was in doubt. The future of the series, which is entering its fifth season, is unclear.

Tambor was accused of sexual misconduct by actress Trace Lysette on November 17, shortly after his former assistant on the show, trans actress Van Barnes, accused him of sexual harassment.

Lysette called on Amazon to remove Tambor from the production but allow the show to continue. Tambor has denied the allegations.

Amazon has been embroiled in the ongoing sex scandals surrounding numerous high-profile figures in Hollywood and beyond after the boss of its studio, Roy Price, resigned amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

That came after severe allegations were made against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein by multiple women, followed by numerous individuals speaking out against figures including Louis CK and Kevin Spacey.

Netflix ended its own flagship show, House of Cards, as a result of the claims about Spacey.
