Talking Tom outfit bought for $1bn

Outfit7’s 3D CGI series Talking Tom & Friends

A consortium of investors from Asia has acquired Outfit7, the company behind the Talking Tom app and animated series, for US$1bn.

Cyprus-based Outfit7 has been taken over by a group of companies represented by United Luck Group Holdings, under the leadership of Ou Yaping.

Goldman Sachs International served as exclusive financial advisor and Taylor Wessing as legal advisor to Outfit7and its shareholders.

The move comes after the company, which has operations in the UK, Slovenia and China, partnered with YouTube to launch its 3D CGI-animated series Talking Tom & Friends (52×11′) in 2015.

This followed the success of the Talking Tom & Friends apps, which Outfit7 claims have been downloaded 5.6 billion times globally and have more than 300 million active monthly players.

The company was founded in 2009 and has about 200 employees.
