T Group ties up Big Boots deal

Storage Hunters prodco T Group Productions has agreed a deal to buy Big Boots Studios, the digital outfit launched last year by ex-Relativity Digital Studios duo Roger Mincheff and Anthony Kaan.

Financial details of the acquisition remain under wraps but the deal will see T Group launching its own digital studio, T Group Media (TGM), with Mincheff as president.

Mincheff will report to T Group president Jenny Daly and is charged with overseeing TGM’s original content and building platforms for brand and relationship growth.

T Group said the studio launch “exemplifies our commitment to prioritise digital and branded content” and would build on momentum from recent projects such as Elevator Pitch for Entrepreneur Network.

TGM will use Big Boots’ contacts to develop new shows, including its partnership with US agency Paradigm Sports Management, whose clients include UFC fighter Conor McGregor.

Big Boots has previously produced original content for live music platform LiveXLive and released shortform drama State of Ward, starring Dean Cain, earlier this year.

Mincheff and the TGM team will be based out of T Group’s Culver City office and will work closely with Daly as well as Rob Lobl, executive VP of development and current programming, and David Kelleher, executive VP and head of production.

Daly said the new studio “allows T Group to serve as a one-stop shop, offering a complete 360-degree approach for brands, talent and third-party producers. Together, TGM and T Group will feed each other across digital and linear, utilising both worlds to engage content across all media.”

Mincheff added: “These are chaotic times for studios and brands as their traditional models are fundamentally changing, but there is opportunity in chaos. Because T Group’s vision is holistic and spans all media, TGM’s reach and resources will allow us to create partnerships of unprecedented value.”

T Group recently received a series order for special Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings, which aired on Freeform, and has produced the second season of Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour for A&E.

Kaan and Mincheff previously launched Relativity Digital Studios, part of the now defunct Relativity Media, producing shortform, longform and digital feature film properties.

Before that, Mincheff led the creation of Fox Digital Studio and was president of Myspace Entertainment. Kaan was previously a branded entertainment executive at global comms firm Edelman, representing companies including Coca-Cola and Hasbro.
