Syfy gathers Garner from Pilgrim

US cablenet Syfy has brought in an executive from producer Pilgrim Studios to become its VP of alternative development and production.

Kelly Garner was most recently VP of development and originals at Pilgrim and has worked on shows including Last Comic Standing, Ax Men and The Contender.

He will now develop and oversee alternative output at the NBCUniversal-owned channel and will be based in Los Angeles, reporting to Heather Olander, senior VP of alternative development and production.

Garner is the latest arrival at Syfy’s alternative department after the recent appointment of former AMC exec Andie Beckerman, who joined last month, also as VP of alternative development and production.

Syfy’s unscripted slate includes magic show Close Up Kings and documentary series The Bazillion Dollar Club, with computer-focused reality show Hackers in development.
