The 8×60’ series, a UK-Canadian coproduction between indie producers Zig Zag Productions and Yap Films, is distributed internationally by eOne TV International.

The show follows three friends from New York who travel across the US attempting to outperform each other in sleight-of-hand tricks. As the stakes get higher, the tricks become more complex.

It follows the previous Syfy acquisition of another magic-themed series, Troy: Street Magic, which was also produced by Zig Zag.

Zig Zag CEO Danny Fenton said: “Magic programming is very much en vogue and we believe the key to creating internationally successful shows in this genre is to constantly try to reinvent what a magic show should be. Close Up Kings is unique in that the series is as much about three buddies having fun on the road as the incredible close-up illusions they create on their journey.”

Fenton executive produces alongside Kevin Utton and Matt Gould from Zig Zag, and Elliot Halpern and Elizabeth Trojian from Yap.
