Recipe Rehab started life on YouTube

A Swedish production company has acquired rights to remake a family-oriented food competition format from US distributor GRB Entertainment.

Sweden’s Elk Production has taken the rights to Recipe Rehab, which comes from veteran TV producer Mark Koops, the creator of The Biggest Loser.

It sees two chefs challenged to make healthy versions of a family’s favourite, calorie-packed meal, which is then judged by the family based on preparation and flavour.

The show started life on YouTube channel Everyday Health in 2012 before travelling to TV.

Elsewhere, two broadcasters in Canada have acquired factual makeover series from GRB.

Canada’s Blue Ant Media has taken Secret Guide to Fabulous, which aims to help make viewers’ lives better by providing tips on cooking, personal style, gift-giving and social media.

Game TV, meanwhile, has picked up two seasons of home-buying series My First Home, which is produced for TLC and follows first-time homebuyers through the process of purchasing their first property.
