Sweden’s Boxer takes on Fox

Fox International Channels (FIC) has extended the reach of its flagship entertainment channel Fox after securing distribution with Swedish pay TV operator Boxer.

The new comes just a month after it was announced that Fox will be made available to 1.8 million cable subscribers on Com Hem in the territory and will add a further 500,000 viewers.

Fox has secured a DTT licence until 2020 in Sweden and FIC has said the two deals will allow the channel to reach 2.3 million viewers, or 52% of the overall market.

The new channel will be tailored to the local market and will air shows including new Fox series Wayward Pines, starring Matt Dillon and Juliette Lewis.

Fox will be the first FIC entertainment channel in the Swedish market, after rolling out in Finland since 2012 and Norway since 2011. In total, the channel is available in 25 European countries, including the UK, Netherlands and Spain.
