Sussman joins Awesome board

UK-based Awesome Media & Entertainment has appointed media veteran Peter Sussman as board director.

Sussman, who joins the firm founded by Canadian-born creator, author and screenwriter Jeff Norton, will also become a shareholder in the company.

The appointment comes as Awesome looks to expand its slate of projects with a move into primetime drama, in addition to its kids and family shows. Among its original series are Woodland, Cortex and Blue Birds, which is based on the forthcoming novel by Sidonie A Kingsmill.

Sussman was co-controlling voting shareholder of Alliance Atlantis and CEO of its Entertainment Group. Subsequently, Peter was co-founder and executive chairman of Aver Media and now holds investments in a number of entertainment companies.

Awesome recently moved into children’s TV production on various projects with DHX Media, Corus Entertainment, Buccaneer Media and Amazon.
