Super lights up Fyre Fraud

Hulu debuted Fyre Fraud days before Netflix dropped its own doc on the festival

Canada’s Super Channel has picked up Hulu documentary Fyre Fraud, which explores the infamous festival that resulted in its founder being sent to prison.

The documentary is an investigation into the Fyre Festival of 2017 and its creator Billy McFarland, who has since been convicted of fraud. It features an exclusive interview with the disgraced entrepreneur himself, and is supported by a cast of whistle-blowers, victims and insiders.

Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning directors Jenner Furst and Julia Willoughby Nason executive produced the doc along with Michael Gasparro, The Cinemart, MIC and Billboard. Entertainment One secured distribution rights in February.

The show will make its Canadian broadcast premiere on Friday April 12 on Super Channel Fuse and will also be available on Super Channel On Demand the following day.

Fyre Fraud was one of two documentaries about the doomed event to be released recently, with Netflix launching its show Fyre: The Greatest Party that Never Happened in January. Marketed as an exclusive, luxury event in the Bahamas, the Fyre Festival ended in disaster, with major problems with food and accommodation.
