Super Channel worships American Gods

American Gods was adapted from Neil Gaiman’s novel

MIPCOM: Super Channel in Canada has acquired exclusive broadcast rights to FremantleMedia North America (FMNA)’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s urban fantasy novel American Gods.

The eight-episode first season will premiere in the spring and will also be available to subscribers of Super Channel On Demand.

The show, sold by FremantleMedia International, is based on the 2001 book and debuted on US cablenet Starz earlier this year. A second season was ordered in May and is set to air in 2018.

FMNA acquired rights to adapt the novel in 2014 and Starz gave the company a ‘script to series’ development deal soon afterwards. Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Heroes) and Michael Green (The River Heroes) write and showrun the series, with Gaiman exec producing.
