Super Channel buys Mercedes, takes Oath

Mr Mercedes is based on a Stephen King novel

Super Channel in Canada has picked up crime thriller Mr Mercedes and Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson’s The Oath from Sony Pictures Television.

Based on the novel by Stephen King, Mr Mercedes follows a killer who taunts a retired police detective with a series of letters and emails.

The 10-part series, produced by Sonar Entertainment in the US, was adapted for TV by David E Kelley (Big Little Lies). The show has been picked up for a second season by US cablenet Audience Network.

The Oath, a 10-part crime drama from executive producer Jackson and his G-Unit Film & Television label, explores a world of gangs made up of those sworn to protect and defend and sheds light on corrupt and secret societies that are nearly impossible to join.

It was created by Joe Halpin (Hawaii Five-O), who also exec produces alongside Todd Hoffman and Dennis Kim of Storied Media Group and Anne Clements (StartUp). It airs on Sony’s Crackle streaming service.

Both dramas will premiere on Super Channel 1 in April and will be available on Super Channel On Demand the day after their linear broadcast.
