The produce’s drama division has optioned Maggie & Me, a memoir by Damian Barr about growing up gay in the UK while Margaret Thatcher was prime minister.

Andrea Gibb (Call The Midwife) will develop the story as a long-running series for TV.

Meanwhile, Fishnet, written by journalist Kirstin Innes, has been optioned for development as a serial for TV. The novel follows a woman obsessively searching for her missing sister who gets drawn into the complex world of Scotland’s sex industry.

Both series will be developed by STV’s Claire Armspach and Sarah Brown, with the latter executive producing.

STV Productions’ drama slate includes forthcoming BBC1 drama The Victim, which is due to air later this year.
