StudioCanal makes tracks to TRX

French producer and distributor StudioCanal has become the latest company to sign up to online TV rights portal The RightsXchange (TRX).

StudioCanal’s entire catalogue, including drama duo Spotless and The Five, will soon be available on TRX.

The portal, which was devised by brothers Matthew and David Frank in 2015, enables rights deals to be completed online and allows distributors to reach buyers in new international markets. They, in turn, get access to rights that would otherwise have been difficult to secure.

UK factual distributor TCB Media Rights recently added its content to the service while US giant Lionsgate, BBC Studios (fka BBC Worldwide), Sky Vision, All3Media, Cineflix, Off the Fence and Beta Films are also customers.

TRX now claims to have over 70,000 hours of content available and says it is adding 10 to 12 new buyers every week. The company has secured funding in excess of US$15m from investors including Sky Ventures and the Channel 4 Growth Fund.
