Studio71 ups Boorstin, Crowley to co-CEOs

Red Arrow Studios-owned shortform content prodco Studio71 has promoted chief operating officer Adam Boorstin and chief revenue officer Matt Crowley to co-CEOs of the company.

Boorstin and Crowley will take up their new roles from November 1, when current CEO and co-founder Reza Izad will become chairman of the prodco.

After acquiring more than 50 connected TV video apps in 2019, Studio71 has launched a range of owned-and-operated shortform video channels on platforms such as Snap Discover and Facebook Watch, across genres including beauty, gaming and lifestyle.

In 2020, it will create more than 2,500 original videos and edit and distribute over 150,000 videos for these platforms.

Boorstin joined Studio71 in 2015 with the goal of expanding the business beyond YouTube. He was promoted to COO from his previous role of chief business officer earlier this year.

During his time at the company, he has led numerous teams, including the business development division, which forged monetisation deals with over 30 video platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Roku and PlutoTV. He has also led Studio71’s podcast division.

Crowley joined the company in 2017 as exec VP of media sales, before being promoted to chief revenue officer in 2019. In this role, he has generated cross-platform revenue for content partners while delivering advertising solutions to clients and agencies.

Izad said: “When I co-founded Studio71, YouTube was the main way talent could build a video business. But the media ecosystem has expanded since then and, over the last few years, Adam and Matt have done a great job evolving and scaling our business offerings, while pushing for the company to own more content.

“Their promotion to co-CEOs is a strategic next step for Studio71 and I look forward to supporting them as they continue to grow our business.”
