Studio Lambert, BBC2 move into Kitchen

BBC2 in the UK has ordered a Googlebox-style series with a culinary twist from the All3Media-owned producer of the Channel 4 hit series.

Studio Lambert is working on The Kitchen (3×60′), which will follow the lives of eight very different households as they cook, eat and discuss a range of topics together.

Emma Willis, head of documentaries at BBC1, BBC2 and BBC4, said the show would give “an intimate snapshot” into UK households and “reflect British humour and eccentricities, as well as the topics of conversation gripping dinner tables around the country.”

The series was commissioned by Willis and Kim Shillinglaw, controller at BBC2, and will air later next month.

Studio Lambert created factual entertainment show Gogglebox, where members of the public are filmed watching and commenting on television shows in their living rooms, for Channel 4 in the UK.

The format has been a breakout hit and has since been sold around the world by All3Media International, the distribution arm of All3Media, including in the Netherlands and the US.
