Story Lab’s Hall Pass heads to Germany

Hall Pass is a social experiment in the form of a gameshow

German broadcaster RTL2 has ordered a celebrity version of relationship social experiment series Hall Pass after picking up the format rights from distributor The Story Lab.

Global investor and developer The Story Lab has licensed the format to German prodco Joker Productions, which will produce the series for RTL-backed free-to-air channel RTL2. Joker will produce a pilot of the series under the title 48H Single – Celebrities Test Their Love.

Hall Pass gives couples at a crossroads in their relationship the opportunity to find out if the grass really is greener on the other side by granting each other a window to do whatever they want with absolutely no consequences. Once over, the couples are given the chance to see a video of what their partner did in their free time.

The format was created by New York-based factual prodco MY Entertainment and Phileas Productions in Spain. RTL2 has already picked up The Story Lab’s other romance-themed format Game of Clones, which is slated to start airing in early 2019.

In related news, The Story Lab has picked up Phileas Productions’ reality format Road Diaries, and will launch the format at Mipcom next month. The series follows three drivers heading to different destinations across the globe, joined by ride-sharers who share stories from their adventures.
