Story Lab, Renowned team for fact ent

UK-based content investor, producer and distributor The Story Lab and London- and LA-based prodco Renowned Films have teamed up to create a slate of factual entertainment programming.

The pair will work together over the next two years to develop “major projects” for global audiences across multiple platforms and brands. The focus will be on returnable entertainment and factual series that complement The Story Lab’s content slate and client base.

The first project to be announced is You Are Not a Loan, a social experiment in which a group of people in one UK town pool their debts in a bid to tackle them collectively. Filmed over the course of a year, the series follows 30 people from a single postcode as they attempt to wipe out £500,000 (US$624,115) of debt in 12 months by banding together.

Renowned Films will produce You Are Not a Loan initially for the UK and key international markets, while The Story Lab will handle brand partnerships and global rights to the format.

The Story Lab said the partnership complemented its wider and long-term strategy to focus on investing in the development of innovativ, original content for multiple territories and platforms.
