Story Lab hires iflix exec

The Story Lab, Amplifi’s London-based content arm, has appointed a senior executive from Asian SVoD service iflix to lead its Asia-Pacific operations.

Donovan Castillo-Mohlman

Donovan Castillo-Mohlman, who takes up his role immediately, is responsible for leading The Story Lab brand across the region, spearheading content development for clients and developing its distribution of and investment in entertainment content.

Castillo-Mohlman will also oversee cross-market collaboration and will attempt to cement The Story Lab’s regional presence by opening new offices.

He replaces Shuntaro Tanaka, who is returning to Dentsu, Amplifi’s advertising and marketing giant parent, in Japan after leading the business across Asia Pacific for just under two years.

Before joining The Story Lab, Castillo-Mohlman was iflix’s global director of content strategy, working with international broadcasters such NBCUniversal, AMC Networks International and Fox Broadcasting in the US as well as Turkish and Singaporean broadcasters StarTV and Mediacorp, to provide Western and Asian programming for the streaming service in emerging markets.

He has worked in numerous areas including content acquisition, commissioning original productions, and managing global distribution rights.

The news follows Dentsu’s recent expansion of The Story Lab into new markets, through its strategic partnership with London-based digital-first talent agency Gleam Networks.
