Starzplay launches in Japan

Drama series Hightown is among the Starz originals on StarzPlay

Lionsgate-owned SVoD platform StarzPlay has launched in Japan via Apple TV Channels, featuring a variety of Starz original series.

The streamer’s line-up includes originals such as Jerry Bruckheimer drama Hightown, Mary J Blige-fronted Power Book II: Ghost, Ramy and The Act, plus multiple feature films.

The service has launched with a seven-day free trial, after which it will become available via the Apple TV app for ¥600 (US$5.63) per month.

The Japanese arrival comes after the initial launch of StarzPlay in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico, all via Apple TV Channels. The platform is also accessible throughout the MENA region as StarzPlay Arabia and is available in more than 50 territories.
