Starz Play, Fox agree distribution deal

MENA-based streaming service Starz Play, backed by US cablenet Starz, has signed a deal with 20th Century Fox Television Distribution for the latter’s series and movies.

American Horror Story, the first two seasons of The Americans, the first four seasons of Homeland and season one of The Strain have all been acquired. Subscribers will be able to watch the first season of Empire from next month.

The agreement also adds Fox movies such as horror The Hills Have Eyes 2, action-comedy The Heat and animated titles such as How to Train Your Dragon 2, The Croods, Epic and The Penguins of Madagascar.

Starz Play launched 20 months ago and last year received additional funding from its existing backers as well as fresh investment.
