Starz explores Disappearance

US cablenet Starz is linking up with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television to develop a scripted series from Teen Wolf writer Nick Antosca.

The Disappearance tells the story of a family who are initially overjoyed when their son returns to them after being kidnapped but start to suspect he was involved in a series of grisly murders.

Antosca, a novelist and producer, will serve as exec producer and screenwriter, with Amblin producing the show.

The prodco’s co-presidents, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, are also attached as exec producers. Starz will retain worldwide rights to the project.

Amblin has been ramping up its TV output recently, with shows including ABC drama The Whispers, CBS duo Under the Dome and Extant, and the upcoming Red Band Society for Fox.
