Starlings adapts Swedish, Korean dramas

The original Honour, which airs on Viaplay

US prodco Starlings Television is working on English-language versions of dramas from Sweden and South Korea, having picking up the rights from Scandi distributor Eccho Rights.

Swedish series Honour first premiered on Nordic Entertainment Group-owned streamer Viaplay. It follows four female lawyers who represent women in need but have a dark secret of their own.

Trap is a South Korean suspense drama that focuses on a retired news anchor who, while on holiday with his wife and son, finds himself trapped in a gruesome hunting game. When his son is murdered, he must seek justice and take on a cannibalistic organisation.

“Eccho Rights consistently delivers great content and both of these formats are of exceptional quality and will be easily adapted for the US market. We are thrilled to be working with [Eccho Rights MD Fredrik af Malmborg] and his team on these two exciting series,” said Chris Philip, president of Starlings Television.
