Starline’s An Evening with Puccini

Broadcasters across Europe have acquired concert film Jonas Kaufmann: An Evening with Puccini from UK sales house Starline Entertainment.

Sky in the UK has taken broadcast rights to the opera production, with Sky Arts taking rights in Germany and New Zealand. The show has also been to sold to HRT in Croatia, Czech TV, YLE in Finland and SVT in Sweden.

Starline said it will finalise negotiations on remaining key territories at Mipcom next month.

The company partnered with producer Arts Alliance to distribute international TV and VoD rights to the film in March.

The deals were negotiated by Starline’s worldwide director of distribution, Julie Delaney.

The film, which played in cinemas earlier this year, is directed by classical music veteran Brian Large (The Metropolitan Opera Presents). Its centrepiece is a performance of Giacomo Puccini arias given by Kaufmann, widely considered as one of the world’s greatest living tenors, at Milan’s famous home of Italian opera, La Scala.
