Star Trek: Discovery lands on C4

Star Trek: Discovery was recently renewed for a third season

MIPCOM: Channel 4 has secured the UK linear TV rights to Star Trek: Discovery in a pact with CBS Studios International (CBSSI).

The series, which streams on CBS streaming platform CBS All Access in the US and on Netflix worldwide, will debut on C4’s youth-skewing network E4 in 2020.

As part of the same deal, E4 has also acquired Matt le Blanc’s CBS comedy Man with a Plan, which will air for the first time in the UK next year.

Star Trek: Discovery, the seventh series in the science-fiction franchise, debuted in 2017 and has been renewed for a third season.

Man with a Plan stars Friends alum le Blanc as an old-school father who must learn to balance his working life with parenting his three children. It debuted in 2016, with a fourth season set to air mid-season in 2020.

Barry Chamberlain, president of sales at CBSSI, said: “This agreement features the best of both worlds – premium subscription content from a global franchise and a very popular network comedy from ‘America’s Most-Watched Network.’

“Channel 4 is already a licensee for several of our top-rated franchises, including The Good Fight and Charmed, and we are confident they will have continued success with Star Trek: Discover and Man with a Plan.”
