Teletoon has acquired the rights to Stan Lee’s Mighty 7 in Canada, while the 90-minute special will also air on UK channel Pop, owned by Sony Pictures Television.

TF1, meanwhile, has acquired all European, French-speaking VoD, SVoD and electronic sell-through rights to the movie.

The French broadcaster launched its SVoD service for children, Tfou Max, last month and has been stocking up on content from around the world.

The movie features Lee, co-creator of franchises such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk and X-Men, voicing an animated version of himself as he teaches a crew of alien prisoners and their jailers, who have crash-landed on Earth, how to use their powers to be superheroes.

It is part of a trilogy of movies produced by Stan Lee Comics, a joint venture from Lee’s POW! Entertainment, Archie Comics and producer and distributor Genius Brands International (GBI).

It debuted on The Hub Network (now known as Discovery Family Channel) in the US and has previously been sold by GBI to ABC in Australia, DR in Denmark, Discovery Channel in India, Zoom in Israel and GMA in the Philippines.
