Squish multiplies on HBO Max

Squish was ordered by French broadcaster Gulli

WarnerMedia-owned HBO Max has acquired all 52 episodes of animated children’s comedy Squish, about amoebas, viruses and bacteria, from Federation Kids & Family.

The streamer, which launched in the US earlier this year, will make the 52×11′ series available to its subscribers in the first quarter of 2021

Produced by Cottonwood Media and Planeta Junior, Squish was commissioned by French broadcaster Gulli and is executive produced and developed by John Derevlany.

Based on the original books of the same name by authors Jennifer and Matthew Holm, it centres on the adventures of a Twinkie-eating grade school amoeba.

“This unique slapstick comedy is perfectly timed as younger viewers try to navigate their way through this pandemic, especially as all the central characters in the series are extremely ‘endearing’ amoebas, viruses and bacteria,” said Monica Levy, head of sales at Federation Kids & Family.
