Spink out in WarnerMedia APAC reshuffle

Jonathan Spink

US production group WarnerMedia has made a series of executive changes to its Asia Pacific teams, which will see long-running HBO Asia CEO Jonathan Spink leave the company.

Spink has worked at HBO Asia since 2003 but will now depart as the division is combined with Turner Asia Pacific. Ricky Ow, meanwhile, has been promoted to president of distribution and advertising sales for APAC at WarnerMedia Entertainment Networks.

Ricky Ow

Ow was previously president of Turner Asia Pacific. He will now take on responsibility for all entertainment networks, distribution of all networks, advertising sales and kids networks operations in the Asia Pacific region.

As well as HBO and Turner, other networks in the APAC portfolio include Warner TV, Oh!K, Mondo TV, Cartoon Network and Boomerang, among others.

As part of the reshuffle, Clement Schwebig has also been promoted to MD of WarnerMedia Entertainment Networks, Southeast Asia, Pacific and China.

Clement Schwebig

Schwebig was previously CFO of Turner Asia Pacific and senior VP of business development and licensing for the region, as well as MD of China. In his new role, Schwebig will oversee all entertainment networks in the region.

Meanwhile, Steve Burton, executive VP of HBO Asia, will also leave the company, while Jamie Friend, senior VP and CFO of WarnerMedia Entertainment Networks, EMEA, has been promoted to take on the extra responsibility of APAC.

AT&T-owned WarnerMedia said the executive changes are part of its efforts to “position its business in the region for further growth and take its portfolio of brands to the next level.”
