Spectrum recruits more LA’s Finest

Jessica Alba (left) and Gabrielle Union in LA’s finest

MCTVF: Crime drama LA’s Finest, starring Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union, has been renewed for a second season by US streaming platform Spectrum.

The news was announced here in Monte Carlo, where the show was screened on the opening night of the 59th Monte Carlo Television Festival on Friday. Alba and Union were also in town for the weekend event following their appearance at NEM in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Set in the same universe as Jerry Bruckheimer’s Bad Boys film franchise, the series follows LAPD detectives Syd Burnett (Union) and Nancy McKenna (Alba) as they take on the most dangerous criminals in LA. Union reprises her role from the film.

LA’s Finest comes from Jerry Bruckheimer Television and 2.0 Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures Television (SPT), which distributes.

Alba and Union exec produce alongside show creators Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier (both The Blacklist) as well as Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Pam Veasey, Doug Belgrad, Jeff Gaspin, Jeff Morrone and Anton Cropper, who also directed the pilot.

SPT has already sold the series, which is the first original commission from Charter Communications-owned Spectrum, to Fox in the UK.
