Spectrum Originals, the VoD service owned by US media giant Charter Communications, and Paramount Network have picked up a new mystery series starring Josh Hartnett.

Produced by Paramount Television and Anonymous Content, Paradise Lost (working title) is a southern gothic series about a psychiatrist who moves with her family from California to her husband’s home town of Mississippi.

As they begin their new lives, the family uncover shameful secrets that irrevocably change the lives of everyone involved.

Hartnett (Penny Dreadful) stars with Bridget Regan (Jane the Virgin). The 10-episode series is written and created by Rodes Fishburne (Blood & Oil), who will co-showrun and exec produce, alongside Arika Lisanne Mittman (Dexter).

Also exec producing are John Lee Hancock, David Kanter, Jeff Okin and Romeo Tirone.

In March, Spectrum Originals picked up the reboot of 1990s sitcom Mad About You, starring Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt.

The on-demand service’s first original series, which was commissioned last year, was Sony- and Bruckheimer-produced drama LA’s Finest, a spin-off from the 2003 action movie Bad Boys II starring and exec produced by Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba.
