Spanish networks delve into TVF library

China Love looks at the country’s pre-wedding photography business

Broadcasters in Spain have acquired various documentaries covering topics as varied as the female breast and glamping from UK-based factual distributor TVF International.

Public broadcaster RTVE picked up numerous titles from TVF, including Breasts: Uncovered (1×52′), which first aired in Europe on Arte, and China Love (1×57′), which explores China’s multimillion-dollar pre-wedding photography industry.

Catalan public broadcaster TV3, meanwhile, has taken a package of 38 hours, including TVF’s aerial series The World From Above (148×26′) and eco-adventure series Across the World with Te Radar (16x’23).

The World from Above has also been licensed by Canal Viajar alongside Sky’s Hidden Italy (16×25′) and luxury travel series Glamping Adventures (8×23′).

In current affairs, TV3 has licensed the BBC-commissioned Accidental Anarchist (1×59′), which tells the story of a leading UK diplomat’s transformation into an anarchist.

It has also picked up Channel NewsAsia’s Undercover Investigation doc In the Name of Honour: Pakistan’s Honour Killings (1×48′).

Also from the Undercover Investigation franchise, Opium Wars: Myanmar’s Drug Vigilantes (1×48′) was picked up by Basque pubcaster ETB alongside health documentaries The Addiction Machine (1×52′), from ABC in Australia, and Mediaworks’ What’s Really In Our Food? special.

The sales come after Irini Koulovasilopoulos joined the TVF International team as a Spanish-language specialist in early 2018. Koulovasilopoulos said the sales highlight the “growing demand for high-quality factual programming in the region.”
