Spain’s TVE sends the women away

The Week the Women Went first aired on BBC3 in 2005

Spanish broadcaster TVE is to produce a local version of The Week the Women Went after acquiring the format from BBC Studios.

The six-episode Spanish version will be called 7 Dias Sin Ellas (7 Days Without Them) and is currently in pre-production for broadcast on TVE’s channel La1 later this year.

Big Bang Media is producing the Spanish version of the social experiment, which sees all the women vacate a community for a week, leaving the men in charge.

The Week the Women Went is an in-house BBC format, which first aired on BBC3 in 2005. Spain marks the 12th sale of the format, which was previously sold to the US, Canada, France, India, Belgium, Brazil, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Ukraine and Morocco.

The show forms part of a formats slate at the commercial arm of the UK pubcaster ahead of its annual showcase event in Liverpool next week.
